Profile of Assistant High Commissioner, AHCI, Rajshahi

Mr. Abhijit Chattopadhyay assumed charge as Assistant High Commissioner in theAssistant High Commission of India, Rajshahi, on 6 January 2016.

Mr. Chattopadhyay joined Ministry of External Affairs in 1983 and so far has served in Indian Missions and Posts in Shiraz (Iran), Hamburg (Germany), Pretoria (South Africa), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and Toronto (Canada) in different capacities. His last posting was in High Commission of India in Dhaka as Second Secretary (Press, Information & Culture) from 2010 to 2013.

He has also served at the Headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi in Administration, Protocol, United Nations (Political) Divisions and the Foreign Service Institute.

Abhijit Chattopadhyay is a science graduate from the University of Calcutta. He is married to Dr. (Mrs.) Patralika Chattopadhyay and has one son.His hobbies are literature, music, drama, films and sports.

During his tenure in Dhaka, he compiled two coffee table books in Bengali, Rabi Bichitra (on the occasion of Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th Birth Anniversary) and Nazrul Bichitra (in commemoration of 90 years of the immortal poem ‘Bidrohi’ by Poet Nazrul Islam), which became very popular in Bangladesh.
